HTW Berlin - WS 19/20

Interfaces between Virtual Reality and the physical world. Our 'real' physical world and the digital worlds of Virtual Reality often exist side by side, forming coexisting parallel worlds. But what happens when we create connections between these worlds and weave Virtual Reality with its real spatial context and the people within it? Under guidance of  Pablo Dornhege.

Idea & Concept

After a long phase of research, we decided that an interplay between sound and space should form the core of the installation. In addition, the following goals should be achieved: Virtual Reality not as an isolating medium, but as a collective experience. Reducing fears and clichés associated with VR. Bringing people together through a foreign medium. Understandable for everyone and with room for experimentation.

In the real physical world, three instruments can be operated. Using built-in tilt sensors, distance meters, and Arduino boards, different tones and melodies are played in both worlds. In the virtual world, one can alter and control the played melodies by interacting with the space.
